Course Description:
Medieval society was extremely male dominant. Because of this all activity pertaining to female responsibilities was assisted and maintained by other women with no male involvement. This included all activities with the children. Male children usually left the home at age 7 to either be with the father, sold off as a slave, or to work as an apprentice for an elder of a specific occupation. This was normally the case unless born into a farm environment in which, all assistance from both boy and girl was required. Noble women fell underneath the same social litigation. Due to a financial position, the noble women had more of an extensive allowance. For instance: When a child was born the breast feeding responsibilities would be handed over to a wet nurse. A Noble mother would leave her child in the care of a wet nurse from child birth sometimes to the age of 5-7. Sometimes a mother would never see their child again because of drastic unpredictable situations that would adjust the entire society.
Their Marriage customs evolved over time with a compilation of rituals from multiple civilizations and time periods. These customs didn’t solidify until the late 1700’s. There were many situations where the society had to enforce marriages in a trickster format. These trickster style of marriages were called “fleet marriages.” Monogamy was a lofty system that was not originated for “love” purposes. Learning Outcome:
The accepting of the importance of Masculinity being the operative force in a civilization should be instilled. This includes the significance of gender based roles being the root as the maintenance of a society. The dominance that monogamy enforces amongst the admiration of the people of a society is a mandate to denounce defamation and the potentiality of backward sexual practices. Societal glorification of the survival of the monogamous union is mandatory during the course of royalty and will be mimicked by the people. This occurs from how monarchs all the way down to a person’s friends are viewed. Prostitution is known as the oldest profession in the world. The psychological/biological and sociological implications need to be understood and accepted as a reality in life operations. Inclusive with a punishment system which is attached to all women should be known. This is done for maintenance of peace and serenity of the males mind which allows him to create and secure his environment. Many things were done throughout the span of time in Old Europe that enforced the submissive, victorious and/or “Karen” attitude that white females exhibit today. It is a clear example of epigenetics and genetic alteration that stays in self-operation over many generations of time.
